The Geography Students’ Association of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, successfully organized “Navora Rangila Raath 2026”, a vibrant Soorya Mangalya celebration to mark the joy and cultural richness of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
The event was held on 28th April 2026 at 4.00 p.m. in front of the Professor J. W. Dayananda Somasundara Auditorium. It brought together the traditional beauty of Avurudu customs, cultural performances, and folk games, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere for all participants.
A variety of traditional games reflecting the spirit of Thun Hele Avurudu Asiriya were conducted during the celebration. The programme provided students, staff, and well-wishers with an enjoyable and meaningful experience, while promoting unity, fellowship, and appreciation of Sri Lankan cultural heritage.
Navora Rangila Raath 2026 was a memorable evening filled with colour, tradition, happiness, and the true spirit of Avurudu.
