The Research Center for China–Sri Lanka Economic Development and Cultural Exchange, together with the Chinese Society of the Department of Languages, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, successfully organized a workshop titled “The Modern Translator: Navigating Literature, Law, and Technology in Global Publishing” on 21st August 2025.
The workshop was designed to provide students with valuable insights into the evolving role of the modern translator, with particular focus on the intersections of literature, legal frameworks, and technology in the global publishing industry.
The event featured Pradeep Gamage, Chief Executive Officer of Goodreads Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., as the resource person. During the session, he shared his professional expertise and practical perspectives on contemporary trends in translation, publishing practices, legal considerations, and the impact of emerging technologies on the profession.
The workshop provided an enriching learning opportunity for fourth-year students pursuing Chinese Language and Translation Studies, broadening their understanding of the dynamic nature of translation as a profession and encouraging them to engage with the expanding global dimensions of translation and publishing.
